Have you completed your EMDR basic training and heard how powerful and effective it can be for trauma treatment… But once you start using it in session, things feel different?
You might notice:
01
Feeling like an imposter while reading the script, unsure if you're “doing it right”
02
Losing connection with your client while trying to follow the protocol
03
Clients not responding to Safe/Calm Place as expected
04
Feeling overwhelmed by your client’s complex trauma history and current symptoms
05
Not knowing which target memory to process first
06
Worrying whether your client can stay within their window of tolerance
07
Feeling anxious when clients report increased disturbance or nightmares
08
Questioning whether to return to talk therapy—or stop using EMDR altogether
If this resonates with you, you’re not alone. I’ve been there too.
This is exactly why EMDR consultation is so important. With the right support, you can move through self-doubt, reduce anxiety, and grow into a confident EMDR therapist—someone your clients can trust with their most difficult stories.
What We’ll Focus on in Consultation
In our consultation sessions, we will work together to:
Strengthen case conceptualization using the EMDR 3-prong, 8-phase model
Clarify treatment planning and how to choose targets effectively
Build strong resourcing skills to help clients feel safe and prepared
Identify common EMDR pitfalls and how to move through stuck points
Learn when and how to use cognitive interweaves
Understand when to modify protocols for complex or dysregulated clients
